Poplar tree removal on the Northern Beaches.
This client, located in Collaroy on Sydney’s Northern Beaches, contacted Chris for advice on removing four poplar trees from their neighbour’s property. The trees had been neglected and were growing out of control. The trees were blocking their ocean views and this would only continue to get worse as the trees grew taller.
We advised the client that the first step was to approach their neighbour and seek their consent.
If your neighbour’s tree(s) is causing trouble or is considered hazardous to you or your family, a straightforward and friendly approach is the first step. In this case, the neighbours were happy for the trees to be removed – as long as our clients covered all costs – a small price to pay for the return of their views.
Poplar trees are on Council’s Exempt Tree Species list
Poplars are tall, fast-growing deciduous trees that can grow up to 50 metres tall. They typically have a long, slender trunk with branches growing in a narrow, columnar shape.
Originating from North America, Europe and Asia, they are an introduced species that are not protected under the Northern Beaches Council’s Tree Preservation Order.
Poplar trees have no environmental benefit to our native wildlife and can become an environmental weed in bushland.
Once consent from the neighbour was achieved, we were happy to remove them.
In circumstances where a neighbour wants a native or protected species removed, we can assist by thinning limbs to retain and improve views. Tree trimming must be done within Council’s regulations. Contact Chris for advice.
Once the poplar trees had been removed, the restored beach and ocean views was spectacular. Needless to say, the client was ecstatic with the result.
